Our Key Programmes in 2010

LEARNING JOURNEYS
The 'Hands-On Minds-On' Experiential Approach to learning Science through learning journeys will be part of Science learning for all P3 to P6 pupils. We have a range of learning journeys lined up for the different levels to help pupils relate Science to reality and evoke ever greater interest in the subject. Each of these learning journeys is linked to a theme that is covered in their curriculum.
  • P3: Yakult Factory - The Human System (Term 3)
  • P4: Living In The Ocean Sleepover - Diversity of Living Things (Term 2)
  • P5: Newater Plant - The Water Cycle (Term 3)
  • P6: Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research - Diversity of Living Things and Adaptation of Living Things (Term 1)

ENRICHMENT

Our enrichment programmes develop creative thinking in pupils and encourage them to try out new ideas through hands-on experimentation.
  • P4 & 5: Fun Science Camp (Term 2)
  • P5 & P6: Science Enrichment and Reinforcement Programmes
  • For P3 - 6 Science Club CCA members: Raffles Museum Nature's Explorer Programme and competition
SCIENCE ATTACK!

We believe in maximising opportunities to develop our P3-P6 pupils' confidence in Science and improve their communication skills. Pupils facilitate simple and fun Science activities once a month for their peers.

P1 & 2 Science Elective

We strongly believe that no mind is too young to start being curious about the world around us. The P1 & 2 Science Elective is integrated into the curriculum. Pupils are exposed from a young age to lay the foundation for a strong interest and knowledge in Science. Our young pupils are exposed to varied topics ranging from Life Cycle of a Bean Plant, to Insects, Magnets and Recycling through fun investigations.
